Tips on finding and hiring a florist

Open up your local phone book an you will probably run across several pages of florists. This in itself can be overwhelming as you ask the question, 'Which one can I trust?"  Here are some tips to help you get started on the path to finding a great florist.

Compile a list: seek out your friends, family, coworkers, etc. and ask for referrals. Then compile a list of potential florists you might consider using.

Interview:  Once you have your  list completed, go see each florist and ask to see their portfolio. Be sure and pay attention to each florist's work to determine if it will fit in with your needs. Is it varied? Or does each setting look the same? Dull? Exciting? Interesting? These are important things to consider. Also, be sure and take note of their personality. If this is a wedding you are planning, expect long hours and time spent around this person. Does their personality mesh well with yours?

Ideas: Does the person offer any creative ideas to what you have in mind?  A florist who goes out of there way to show an extra effort, is already doing the job.

Research: Check out the florist's references. Be sure and ask questions about them and especially if they would use them again for another project.

With these tips, you should be well on your way to finding a florist you trust and can work with who will make your project shine.
